Listening by Ann Wood

2014     21 inches x 18 inches x 1 inches

This figure is stopping to see with her eyes. She is taking it all in and listening to the hum of a shell while offering the viewer her insite. She is offering a thought to contemplate that occasionally slowing down her pace to take some time to rest is important.

As an admirer of texture, I decided to drop out the color and focus just on the wood. I cut and pieced balsa wood around the figure to refer to a landscape. I wanted the landscape to be full but also silent in contrast to the strength of her solidness.
